Known for its scenic beaches and affluent community, Sarasota modern homes boast architecture that lends its character a unique, unexpected appeal.
Sarasota is home to SellModern’s Home of the Week, with a property called The Schrock-Solstic House. It was constructed by Halflants+Pichette architects in 2007.
From their website:
Halflants + Pichette is a modern architecture studio located in Sarasota Florida. Our goal is to create high quality modern designs that respond to context and function. Driven by a consistent philosophy in lieu of style, Halflants + Pichette’s work closely connects to the client’s program and site by finding inspiration in the constraints of the project.
The Schrock-Solstice House
About the home:
The residence is located at the mouth of Bolees Creek as it opens to Sarasota Bay. Instead of fronting crowded residential properties across the narrow creek, the house is rotated to look over the Bay in the direction of the summer solstice.
The roof terrace stair steps to give additional height to the living room below and to offer distant views of the barrier islands. An arbor built of 28 feet long cypress beams shades the lower part of the fully occupiable roof. The main living spaces are laid out on the top floor to take full advantage of the long views over Sarasota Bay.
