Rhode Island is taking on more than its share of economic gloom — the country’s smallest state has one of the largest deficits — but it is still sunny in parts of Providence, a city that is reinventing itself as a modern destination for folks that like their living a little bit urban, a little bit rural.

Nothing illustrates this more than Farmhouse One, a project headed  by DBVW Architects.

Like the mixture of Providence’s urban and rural living, Farmhouse One blends seemingly opposite design techniques and establishes the home as an enchanting example of modern architecture.
