From the Web site:
L.A. is defined by in between space, as well as shelters. In the melding of cultures, a new order is established that challenges the legitimacy of social and physical hierarchies. The Linnie Canal house uses this methodology of uncertainty to generate its form. The habitable areas of the house are the spaces formed by the chance result of un-programmed surface areas converging, diverging, and layering. Once established, those areas where spaces occur are programmed to meet the needs of the house’s occupants. With further development, the spaces are refined, and a unique order is made apparent.
