Las Vegas may be known for its lavishness, vice and steamy weather. But simmering beneath it all is a dedicated group of architects working hard to establish its reputation as a modern architectural center.

It’s summer, so if you are looking for a retreat by the water, check out this modern home in D.C.
This 1970 white brick contemporary is located in Pasadena on 1.38 acres right on the Chesapeake. I wish there were interior shots of this 2/4.5, nearly 6,000 square foot home. This is a short sale and listed for $1.099 million.
The sleek exterior reminds us of a home we featured a ways back, in rural Georgia. Stay tuned for updates should we find any correlation between the two homes. Here’s the post about modern homes outside of Augusta.
The Pacific Northwest is one of the country’s more majestic locales. Ripe full of natural landscapes and architecture that reflects the environment, Seattle and the surrounding areas offer its residents and visitors alike a rare chance to enjoy nature and industry working together as a sustainable, mesmerizing force.
Curtis and Emmons Architects display the kind of modern approach to Seattle’s contemporary homes that lend this area such a unique appeal.

Commodity: A design to fit your practical needs.
Firmness: A design to conform to all pragmatic requirements such as structural, electrical and environmental soundness.
Delight: The most difficult goal to achieve. Delight is the goal that separates a truly well-designed house from the mediocre.
An architect who provides you with delight is a translator of your dreams and imagination. Delight is a goal beyond providing shelter: It is a desire to make your heart sing because of the intangible beauty of your home.
Architecture & Light Design a Private SF Residence
We all know San Francisco’s appeal: the history and culture, the beautiful layout of the city and the rich mix of old and new. Standing among all of this intrigue is a healthy sampling of West coast contemporary homes. Whether it is in private residences or commercial buildings, San Francisco demonstrates why it is one of the world’s most widely visited cities.
Below you will find a modern day marvel, designed as a private residence by Architecture & Light.
About the Project:
Two corner units were combined into a single condominium for a couple to use as a weekly pied a terre. Located in Millennium Towers, the unit has panoramic views of downtown San Francisco which in turn form a backdrop for the client’s art and furniture.
About the Firm:
Architecture & Light is a collaborative firm of architects and lighting designers founded in 1993 by Darrell Hawthorne and Mark Stevens. The principals and staff have extensive experience in the design, management and construction of a wide range of projects in architecture, interiors and lighting.
Rhode Island is taking on more than its share of economic gloom — the country’s smallest state has one of the largest deficits — but it is still sunny in parts of Providence, a city that is reinventing itself as a modern destination for folks that like their living a little bit urban, a little bit rural.
Nothing illustrates this more than Farmhouse One, a project headed by DBVW Architects.
Like the mixture of Providence’s urban and rural living, Farmhouse One blends seemingly opposite design techniques and establishes the home as an enchanting example of modern architecture.
